Dear Jen- A Quilting Skill Builder

UPDATE: This multi session class started at the end of 2023 and is not open for new enrollments at this time.
Sure, you can piece a quilt but maybe you'd like to improve your skills and grow to be the boss of your quilts?
In this Dear Jen Skill Building class, we will take a look at the Dear Jen quilt and booklet by Jen Kingwell. This is her spin on a notoriously challenging quilt, "Dear Jane." Both feature 6 inch finished blocks.
Jen's version has multiple setting options and as the cover shows, one of those layouts feature 3 of each block. Jen is a fan of templates and hand piecing, but we will be putting our own spin on the construction of these blocks with alternative methods.
Kits will be available separately from the class in the Greenstone colorway (Greenstone is Jen's newest fabric line) or in a bright colorway (multiple lines of fabric) during the first session. Or you can use your own choice of fabrics.
Every student will need to bring or purchase their own copy of the Dear Jen Booklet
Class instructor is Amy Johnson, and she will be breaking many of these blocks into simpler methods, including a 12" block variation if you want an easier version or are a less experienced quilter. Rotary cutting skills and traditional machine piecing will be covered as well as curved piecing, applique, paper piecing, and the use of templates. All along, tips will be given for getting better results in piecing.
We will meet monthly for 7 months, on the 3rd Saturday of the month from 4-6.
Additional supplies will be needed and will be discussed in our first meeting.
This is a no machine needed, lecture and demo format with handouts, instructions and occasional in-class hands-on practice.
